Khayal Amjad? is a social drama series on Al Jazeera 360 hosted by Sudanese artist Amjad Al-Noor. Each episode takes a real issue facing Arab youth — relationships, identity, social pressure, the choice between money and meaning — and turns it into a story you watch, set to original songs written for that episode. The title itself asks the question the show keeps asking: is this fiction, or is this real

Creative Approach
The show works because it doesn't lecture. Amjad faces a different problem in every episode, the same way the audience does in real life. The drama plays out, the song lands, and the question stays with you after the episode ends. We wanted something that felt like watching a short film, not a talk show with music in it.
Concept & Style
The look is stripped back. Most of the screen time is on Amjad and the people around him, with the music doing the emotional work the dialogue doesn't. Performances were built with the song in mind from the start, so the singing, the movement, and the acting all carry the same weight. Nothing is decorative.
On This Project
I worked on Khayal Amjad? as Executive Producer and writer of the final episode. I led the project from the early development stage through delivery — assembling the writing team, choosing the production house, and shaping the show step by step alongside the director and cast. The format was new ground for us. A music-driven drama where the song carries the story is not how Arabic television usually works, and getting it to land took a different kind of producing than anything I'd done before.
